You may decide to have an online presence with a website that has many pages or with one to six pages.

The one-to-six page blog or website are normally created to promote a service or product and are sometimes referred to ‘squeeze pages’ or ‘mini-sites. The product in question is often a digital download (audio, video) or an eBook. The service could just be selling your experience and skills.

Mini-sites generally have pages like:

-    detailing the product or the service
-    a contact page
-    disclaimer
-    privacy policy
-    frequent answered questions (faq)
-    terms of service

On each of your pages you may wish to add some graphics like a header banner or picture of your product or service.

Let’s talk about Graphics

If you are going to use graphics (and I recommend you do), this is where I would start.

Very often, an eCover is included within the mini-site. This is a computer-generated image that mirrors how the product would appear if it were in the physical world.

An example of this would be an eCover for an eBook (like the one on this page). The eCover graphic would make the eBook appear like a real book so that it looks more appealing to the buyer.

These type of graphics are usually created using Photoshop or similar type of software. Photoshop is not cheap and can take a while to master so you may wish to outsource your graphic needs to an expert designer.

Now the Header Banner

Most mini-sites have a header banner however there is no hard and fast rule to say you have to have one. Some of my mini-sites do, some don’t.

However, I do believe having a great looking header will attract people to read your headline and will also give a professional edge to your site.

The header needs to contain important details such as a tag line and the name of your product – this should be a concise sentence that explains what your site is all about.

You may also wish to include an image that relates to your niche and/or a small image of your eCover.

Powerful tip: Don’t make your header banner too large, otherwise visitors will just see the headers and not the text of your sales page. Headers are usually 700-800 pixels in width and 100-200 pixels high.

If you are just starting out, find out how to make a blog, build a mini-site to promote your product and make sure the end result is professional looking.
